Mongolia is an independent Asia country of three million people, roughly half of which live in Ulaanbaator, the coldest capital city in the world. Fully one-third of the population are nomads who move their gers (yurts in Russia) each season or to follow the pastures. A democratic republic since 1991, Mongolia has greatly improved its standards according to the United Nations Human Development Index. Mongolia is known as the Land of Eternal Blue Sky.
